November really does see the dark evenings setting in and in the New Forest area, dark really can mean dark. Ensure that if you go outside at night you take a torch to avoid slips and trips. Can the emergency services find your house in the dark? Is the name or number clearly visible from the road? It could save those precious minutes that may be the difference between life and death.
You will see that we always have a line on our home page that we are looking for more volunteers. That is because we always are! Although we have 10 in our group, for various reasons not all can give time to the group. Our community have shown us, through their generosity that they support what we do, and we would like to provide as much cover as we can throughout the 24 hour period. This means that we need as many people as we can get, as most will only do a few hours a week after training. Please do consider joining us and help make that difference in the community. As with any community voluntary group, we cannot exist if we do not have those who are prepared to give up just a few hours a week. Please also remember that our volunteers have full time jobs, responsibilities and commitments in addition to the work they do for this group. So if you ring or enquire and someone does not get back to you that day, please bear with us. We have no secretary or PA but we will contact you just as soon as we can. We would particularly welcome volunteers from young people over 18 who have a driving licence. The communication and interpersonal skills you will gain as a community responder and your commitment to support others will stand you in good stead in any chosen career and enhance your CV geatly.
