We hope to be able to make an announcement in the immediate future in respect of our wish to purchase our existing response car. We are just waiting on a message from the ambulance service trust which we have been promised will arrive early in the first week in June. Watch this space!
The first week in June is National Volunteer Week (see our home page) and we hope that more will think of volunteering as a way of contributing to this very nice community we have around us. Our two new volunteer Responders, Rachel and Antony, have now been trained and as soon as some last paperwork has been sorted they will be on our rota helping to provide the vital cover we need. Why not consider joining them? Please see our Volunteer page accessible from the How can I help link on the left. Or download the information leaflet available from the Home page. Your Village needs you and you need no special skills.
May was a difficult month for us in terms of providing responder cover in the area. We have had very few responders available for shifts with the result that our calls attended figures have dropped. We hope to recover our response rate in the near future. We have also addressed with the ambulance service some anomalies in their mapping system which meant we were not getting alerted to appropriate calls in areas we had previously covered. This, we hope, has now been rectified.
We will be attending Sopley School Fete on June 27th and Avon Tyrell Fete Day on 5th September with our colleagues from Heartstart Bransgore-New Forest, specifically to try and get some more recruits to join us and help provide additional cover during the daytime hours in weekdays.
