Following our disappointment in failing to secure support from the local motor dealers in respect of our sponsored car, we are now looking at ways in which we can continue to operate with a distinctive high profile vehicle as we have now, rather than revert back to using our private cars - which is the basis on which community responders usually operate.
It is appropriate to record that Gates of Brockenhurst continue to assist
us by extending the loan of our current vehicle and looking at other ways they can
help support us when we replace this vehicle. We extend our thanks to Jonathan Gates
who, as it says on the side of our vehicle is Supporting the Bransgore Community
We are hoping that before long we may be able to seek some grant funding to purchase a suitable vehicle for the group which would be liveried and equipped, much as our existing vehicle now is. As we may not be successful in a grant bid (and if we were we would need to contribute money ourselves to the project) we have started up a car project fund. When we receive a cheque donation, and if those donating the money agree, we will put these finds towards the project fund. Some of our responders have also raised their own funds in various ways and these too will be ring-fenced for the car project fund. Already we have received some very generous donations towards the fund and these are evidence of how much the community supports us and our project. Please be assured though that if are not able to secure a vehicle for the group we will continue to provide a service using our own vehicles. This is the basis upon which community responders operate. Local people in their community using their own cars, with no need for blue lights and sirens. For us the high profile car would be a bonus, but we will continue whatever.
As examples we have recently been presented with cheques for very respectable amounts of money from the South Avon & Stour Agricultural Society and the Charity Challenge Team of BAE Systems of Christchurch. Our local District Councillor has kindly used part of his Community Engagement Grant to assist us with the project. We extend our sincere thanks to all for their support.
We have been interviewed on radio three times this month as interest in our search for a replacement vehicle becomes known.
We have been interviewed by Radio Solent for their news bulletins and also live on the Julian Clegg Breakfast Show. We were guests of ThePark FM on their second day of broadcasting
and we were pleased to be interviewed for a second time by Forest FM 92.3 following the recent press release. To listen to extracts from that interview please
