It is our busiest month of the year. Street Collections took place on Sat 12th July (Ringwood Sainsbury's) and Sat 19th in Bransgore outside the shops and we are due at Sainsbury's Somerford on Sunday 27th. With your support we can raise the funds to continue our operations for the coming year. Please support us where you can.
Then we have the New Forest Show on 29th, 30th & 31st at New Park Brockenhurst. We have been offered a stand again because of the appalling weather last year. We hope for sunshine this year. We are there to raise the profile of Community Responders across the County generally, not simply to raise money. Please visit us on Stand 70, Block 10 near the vintage farm equipment, beer tent and food hall in the top left hand corner of the showground, if you are passing. You can also see the very latest in emergency ambulances on loan by kind permission of South Central Ambulance Service.
At the same time, those responders who have volunteered to become Heartstart instructors ( See the Heartstart link on the left) are meeting to decide when we will formally launch the scheme and be able to offer FREE life support training to those in the community. Simple skills that save lives.
Our website has been nominated for awards in three categories of this year's Hantsweb Awards due to be judged in September. We hope that the hard work which has been put into the website by our supporters at Artymis Web Design pays off. Did you know we have a 20 minute audio file all about Bransgore Community Responders, available to listen to. Just click on the link from the home page.
Finally we were disappointed that after a lot of hard work in preparing an application for a grant, Bournemouth Airport's Community Fund changed the criteria for applications without telling anyone which meant that we were no longer eligible for a grant from them, even though we do respond to calls in the Borough of Christchurch. However we were then pleased to hear that our efforts have been rewarded by a grant from the Co-operative Group. The grant will fund a computer projector which will enable us to provide a very respectable presentation when we give talks and visits, or Heartstart related training. Many thanks to the Co-op for their support.
Special thanks go to Bransgore Horticultural Society who donated part of the proceeds on their Open Gardens Weekend to our Group, and to Cynthia Hiscock of Ripley who recently made a most generous donation from an event held in Sopley Village Hall. It is through such support that we continue to be able to operate the service we do, so we all say a big thank you to Cynthia.
