On the evening of 17th we were very pleased to host a visit by the paramedics from the Hampshire & IOW Air Ambulance, who gave us a presentation on their work and some operational safety rules and procedures when working around helicopter aircraft. We extended the invitation to local fire and police officers and our elected representatives from the parish and district councils. The presentation given by Steve and Chris was excellent and we place on record our thanks to them. It was the first such presentation given by the operational Helimed crews since they went operational in July and we were honoured to be the first such group to receive it, and to be able to extend the invitation to our friends in the emergency services and the council who support us in what we do.

Not in the same league but both ready to respond to the call
In another first for the Bransgore Community Responders we are now in discussion with the ambulance service covering Dorset and in the not too distant future should be able to cross the county border into Dorset and assist the residents of Winkton and Burton when a serious medical crisis arises for residents in those areas. The ambulance service covering Dorset (South Western Ambulance Service) will be finalising the necessary protocols with our own ambulance service, and will be able to task us directly using our existing Hampshire division phone and pager. Both ambulance services recognise the benefits of getting a responder to a patient quickly when the ambulance may still be on the way. With the expansion into Ripley and Sopley and a possible expansion towards Burley (see August News) this can only be good news for those communities.
