Following our achievements in Bransgore and the area surrounding, we have been approved by the ambulance service, to extend our area of coverage to include Sopley and Ripley. We are currently preparing our mapping systems and plotting the properties with our GPS to ensure we have the best information to enable us to provide a response in those areas.
When this preparatory work is completed we will add these villages to the area we cover. We will release a press statement at that time and hope that the media will carry it and promote some of the key Community Responder messages at the same time.
The community in Sopley and Ripley will benefit from the same Community Responder cover as those in the Bransgore area. This means that when the ambulance service receive a call which they assess as being potentially life threatening, in addition to sending an ambulance they will despatch an on-call community responder to provide basic life support care until the arrival of the trained ambulance professionals. We are are also looking at the feasibility of extending our area to include that part of Burley, south of the war memorial.
We currently have access to a car kindly sponsored by Gates of Brockenhurst, and carry oxygen, a defibrillator and other medical items, and are trained to carry out Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
