There are currently nine fully trained Community First Responders in Bransgore with others awaiting training. Mike, Jacqui, Debbie,Sarah and Derek regularly attend emergency calls in the area. Our newly trained responders are Jean and Tony, who are supported by the others for their initial calls. We also receive support from Mel who has joined as a non-operational member to help with some of the media and publicity related matters we undertake to keep the group in the public eye and help raise funds as needed. Although primarily non-operational, Mel has undertaken the full training and can attend calls with another Responder in a support role if required. As other volunteers join us and complete their initial training they will perform their first shifts as support to the No 1 responder on call.

Some of our team have taken on extra responsibilities. Mike acts as the group co-ordinator, the link between us and the ambulance service and outside agencies, manages our sponsorship and grant applicatons and looks after our Group response car. Debbie is our finance officer making sure we manage our money well, Jackie (assisted by Tony) is our training officer, Jacqui has taken on the vital fund raising role and Sarah acts as deputy to Mike and co-ordinates all events and equipment supplies. Mel, as mentioned above is our media officer.
The amount of time individual responders give is up to them and depends on their circumstances. For example some who are at home during the day cover the daytime hours, those who work during the day cover the evenings or weekends, and we have those who cover right through the night. Our aim is to provide full 24/7 cover whenever we can achieve it.
